KStars

KStars is an open source suite of astronomy software that includes mapping, telescope control, imaging, dome control, and much more.

KStars runs on Linux, Raspberry Pi, Mac, and to some degree MS Windows and Android.

For more information see edu.kstars.org

Installing KUbuntu Linux

On a PC laptop, the preferred way to run KStars is on Linux.  There are many ‘flavors’ of Linux available.  KUbuntu is a version of the free Linux operating system that includes the intuitive Plasma desktop and KDE applications. The Plasma desktop is similar to the Windows desktop and Windows users find it easy to learn.

I have a separate page on installing KUbuntu Linux here: Installing Kubuntu
